This week, the Illinois House of Representatives will vote on SB 3287, a bill that will undermine a company's ability to offer safety training programs to their employees.  SB 3287 eliminates the worker's compensation exclusive remedy/immunity enjoyed by companies that provide safety consulting.  Many IFCA members who use outside companies or consulting firms to assist with safety compliance issues would be negatively impacted by this legislation, which increases the liability exposure and insurance costs for safety consultants.  These costs will certainly be passed along to businesses.  Illinois' worker injury rate is 16% lower than the national average.  It makes no sense to create new impediments to safety training by providing more opportunities for lawsuits for companies who provide these valuable services.
