Tier 2 Fees, GMO Labeling, Pesticide Preemption

IFCA is actively representing our members at the Illinois State Capitol on many issues.  Several bills of critical interest to our members include a proposal to raise Tier 2 reporting fees from $0 currently to $450 for ag retailers, a bill to require all foods sold in Illinois that contain genetically modified ingredients to be labeled as containing GMO, and a bill to usurp the Illinois Department of Agriculture's authority to oversee pesticide regulation in Cook County for any municipality with a population over 50,000.

As of today, IFCA continues to meet with the bill sponsors and proponent groups to ensure that they understand our reasons for opposing these bills.  We may need your help next week to contact legislators if these bills are called for a vote in committee.
