IDOA Container Recycling Program Update

The Illinois Department of Agriculture (IDOA) has announced a temporary change affecting certain containers accepted through its Agrichemical Container Recycling Program.

Due to the loss of manufacturers that can utilize the thicker plastic from free-standing mini bulk containers, the Department’s recycling contractor is not accepting the thicker, one-foot-square pieces from these containers until further notice. Anyone who has already prepared pieces from free-standing mini bulk containers should store the material until collections resume or use an appropriate waste disposal service. This change specifically affects the thicker plastic from free-standing mini bulk containers. IDOA will provide an update when collections of this material are able to resume.

Additional information on the Agrichemical Container Recycling Program, including container preparation requirements and program updates, is available on the IDOA website.
