Illinois Capitol Update for the Week Ending June 20th
Although the Illinois General Assembly officially adjourned the spring legislative session in the early hours of June 1, a return to Springfield could come much sooner than the as-yet-unscheduled fall veto session. Uncertainty surrounding the flow of federal funding into Illinois has created potential budget shortfalls that may prompt the Governor and legislative leaders to call a special session this summer.
Key issues such as state funding for critical programs, energy reform, and transit reform remain unresolved. IFCA will stay actively engaged throughout the summer on what might happen at the Capitol. IFCA will continue to monitor developments closely and provide timely updates as more information becomes available.
