IFCA News Under the Dome
With one week remaining until the May 9 deadline for the Senate to take action on House bills in committee and the House to do the same with Senate bills, legislators spent much of this week in committees and involved in behind-the-scenes negotiations on legislation. With only seventeen session days remaining for the spring legislative session, each passing day brings each bill either closer to passing both chambers or being placed back on the shelf for future discussions. Very few controversial issues were heard in committees this week in either the House or Senate. Meanwhile, legislators continue to focus on budget negotiations.
On Wednesday, the House Transportation Committee passed out unanimously SB849 to the House floor. SB849 would expand the restricted B CDL license from 180 days to 210 days. IFCA did testify to the committee in support of this legislation. We expect this bill to be on the House floor next week. The Senate already approved SB849 last week.
