Conformance Certificates on Scales & Meters
The IDA Weights & Measures regulations require large scales to have a Certificate of Conformance (COC) showing that the device meets the NTEP standards. On the IFCA website we have posted several guidance documents from IDA to help you determine if your scales are in conformance. This is a worthwhile endeavor, because determining the status of your scale will also help you determine what replacement/repair or other costs may be in your future in order to comply with the regulations. On a related note, metering devices also must meet NTEP conformance requirements. As we informed you last week, we are working with IDA to determine the scope and status of flow/paddle/vane meters that are used in our industry and how to best proceed to assure compliance with the regulations. IFCA will continue to work with IDA to resolve this issue in the fairest manner possible to assure industry compliance in a reasonable and equitable manner. We will keep you posted.
