IFCA News Under the Dome - Week of April 14th

Legislators in both chambers spent last week on their respective chamber floors voting on bills and moving legislation from one chamber to the other. The House, who typically takes a more aggressive approach to passing legislation, advanced 380 bills over to the Senate last week. For their part, the Senate advanced only 160 bills over to the House last week. Including the bills that passed each chamber last week, both chambers passed only a small percentage of the 6,700 bills filed this session.

Both chambers will take this week off and the members of the House will return to Springfield on April 22, with the members of the Senate returning on April 29. When legislators return to the Capitol after their break, they will have 5 weeks to negotiate, draft, move bills and vote on legislation ahead of the May 31 adjournment date.
