IFCA News Under the Dome: Week of March 17th

Lawmakers returned to Springfield for a busy week of session before today's committee deadline. Today, all bills are required to make it out of their respective committees in order to continue through the legislative process. Of course, as is custom in the Illinois General Assembly, committee deadline extensions can be granted. After this week, legislators will turn their focus on moving bills from one chamber to the other. The Third Reading deadline is set for Friday, April 11th.

The IFCA Board of Directors were at the State Capitol on Tuesday working issues that were important to our members. One major focus for the IFCA Board when speaking to legislators was on continuous education credits to renew a pesticide license with IDOA.  This has been IFCA's top priority this session. Secondly, IFCA has been working HB1596. This bill would require pesticide applicators to provide written or email notice 72 hours prior to any application within half a mile of a school or park. IFCA has concerns with some of the specifics of HB1596 and has been voicing these concerns to the bill sponsor.
