Tell Your Member of Congress to Bring the House Farm Bill to the Floor for a Vote

As you know by now, the House Agriculture Committee passed H.R.8467 - Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 out of committee early Friday morning, May 24 with bipartisan support. This legislation, as amended in the committee markup, included all of IFCA’s priorities.

It is highly important that IFCA members share these communications within your companies to help bolster active engagement with congressional members and their staff. Putting a constituent face on our industry helps these legislative leaders better understand that our organization, its members, and the farmer customers they supply all have a large stake in their local economies and see importance in passing a Farm bill reauthorizing and updating programs at USDA this year.

Here are the IFCA policy priorities included in the bipartisan bill that passed out of the House Ag Committee:
  • Technical Service Provider (TSP) reforms
  • Language ensuring that EPA Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP) and State Lead Agencies have the exclusive role in regulating pesticides
  • Agricultural Labeling Uniformity Act language to reaffirm EPA’s risk-based role regarding pesticide regulation
  • Language to eliminate duplicative permitting requirements under NPDES (Amendment offered by Rep. Rouzer (R-NC))
  • Codifying a plant biostimulant definition
  • Listing of potash and phosphate as critical minerals
IFCA thanks members like you for your work to highlight these key issues and supporting our collective work in Washington.
