This Week in Springfield

IFCA had a very productive week at the Illinois state capitol this week. On Tuesday, IFCA's President KJ Johnson testified in the House Energy and Environment committee on different anti-pesticide pieces of legislation. After the committee hearing, only HB5018, which raises penalties on tree damaged by pesticide, will have any further discussions. IFCA has spoken to the bill sponsor over concerns with HB5018. Continued meetings will occur over the next couple of weeks with IFCA, the bill sponsor, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, and proponents of the bill.

It was the annual AG Day event at the Capitol on Wednesday. IFCA participated in the breakfast that morning and had great discussions with FFA chapters across the state of Illinois. Pictured below is KJ Johnson with the Tri-Valley FFA chapter. It is always great to hear the enthusiasm from young ag leaders of the future.  They got a firsthand look at how legislation is made in Springfield.

IFCA will keep members informed on any legislation that moves to the Illinois General Assembly this spring session. If you wish to be kept informed on which bills and pieces of legislation IFCA is currently monitoring, please click on IFCA's latest "News Under the Dome".
