We know that the new CDL certification requirement is confusing.  This new process requires everyone with a CDL to visit an Illinois Secretary of State CDL office sometime between January 12, 2012 and January 31, 2014 to declare the type of CDL driver that you are (one of 4 categories).  Please visit www.ifca.com and you will see a memo from the SOS posted on our website that explains the categories in detail.  For many IFCA members, category 1 or 3 are the most likely to apply.  If you cross state lines with your company vehicles to conduct commerce, category 1 is what you need, and most other drivers with a CDL who don't cross state lines will need category 3.  We will have more information on this and other transportation regulations at the IFCA convention.  In the meantime, please feel free to call Kevin or Jean if you have questions.
