KIC Poster

IFCA retail members should have received a 11 x 17 "Keep it for the Crop" poster with recommended management practices for fall fertilizer season.  Please post this in your office and share the message with your customers.

KIC is Illinois agriculture's program.  We intend to provide sensible guidelines for nutrient application as well as measure the adoption of the 4Rs of fertilizer use (right source, right rate, right time, right place) and we are working directly with IEPA and other nutrient stakeholders in this effort.  In Florida, where nutrient regulations are forthcoming, it is costing the ag industry $40,000 per month in legal fees as they challenge and try to mange a top-down regulation that has been enacted as a result of a lawsuit, forcing the State of Florida to adopt numeric water quality standards for nutrients.  Illinois ag groups, including IFCA, are working to ensure that we mange nutrient issues proactively to avoid lawsuits and regulation for the benefit of both agriculture and the environment.  That is what "Keep it for the Crop" is about.  If you have questions about KIC, please contact Jean Payne.
