We have become aware USDOT (Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration) has been conducting random audits in Illinois on ammonia nurse tanks.  Some of the items they are focusing on include but are not limited to:

 

•     Proper securement of the nurse tank to the trailer/running gear

•     Ammonia nurse tanks properly placarded and labeled along with the condition/visibility of the placards & labels.

•     Nurse tank name plates/data plates.  If the data plate is not affixed or no longer legible, is the nurse tank enrolled into the NTIP program along with maintaining a copy of the nurse tank inspection report for those tanks that are enrolled into the NTIP program.
