On August 2, the U.S. House of Representatives introduced legislation, titled the Freight Rail Shipping Fair Market Act, to reauthorize the Surface Transportation Board.
 
The legislation is backed by many companies in the ag input industry.  It seeks to address several longstanding policy concerns and objectives impacting fertilizer and other rail shippers, including service standards and reciprocity for shippers dealing with unreasonably poor rail service.
