Most Right-to-Repair Lawsuits Against Equipment Manufacturers to be Litigated in Northern Illinois
Over the past few years, there has been legislation introduced at the Illinois State Capitol for the right to repair equipment. This would let owners of cell phones all the way up to heavy farm equipment repair their own machinery. IFCA is starting to see lawsuits being filed against several equipment manufacturers. Many class-action lawsuits are being brought against John Deere and other ag equipment manufacturers over the right to repair equipment. As of now, nine cases consolidated in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, including a new lawsuit filed on May 25 by DeLine Farms will be heard in federal court.
