Retesting Nurse Tanks

We are still waiting for USDOT to finalize the rule that will roll the special permit program for ammonia tanks missing their data plates into the permanent DOT regulations.  Many IFCA members are due for the 5 year re-test on the tanks missing their data plates.  We encourage you to re-test the tanks and complete the same paperwork as in the past until the final DOT rule is in place.  The final rule will require that all tanks with missing or illegible data plates be tested once every five years in order to remain in service.  The big change will be that the SP sticker will no longer be required since the special permit program will go away, replaced by a permanet rule.  In all cases, the sticker that shows the date of the test will have to be displayed on the tanks.  Make sure that you also get your NTIP addendums filed on tanks that were previously tested.  If you have questions about this please contact Kevin or Jean.
