Comments On Atrazine Review
IFCA is asking all members to take time and make public comments on the draft biological evaluations for atrazine, propazine and simazine by Feb 19, 2021.
Biological evaluations are the beginning of EPA's Endangered Species Act consultation review process where the agency determines whether a herbicide may affect one or more listed species and their designated critical habitats.
EPA published its draft biological evaluation of atrazine, simazine and propazine and inexplicably found that atrazine is likely to adversely impact nearly all species and critical habitats in the US, which could impact future availability of atrazine in the marketplace.
Activist groups are lobbying for atrazine to be banned entirely, based on concerns about health risks, environmental problems and particularly water quality. Click here for talking points on the issue. (attached)
