Pritzker May Loosen Virus Rules After Holidays

Citing rising COVID-19 numbers, Gov. J.B. Pritzker moved the state under Tier 3 mitigations in November, closing indoor service in bars and restaurants.

Now that the metrics are improving, when will the restrictions be loosened? Most areas of the state apparently avoided a post-Thanksgiving surge that Pritzker warned about, and a couple regions have met the requirements to move back to Tier 2 mitigations which would reopen many businesses.

Pritzker says he continues to follow the science.

“Not just Dr. [Anthony] Fauci, but the whole wrath of doctors that we rely upon for their good advice as we move forward with this novel coronavirus,” Prizker said. “We need to be deeply concerned about the gatherings that people may have around the holidays.”
