Remembering Two Friends of IFCA
In the past several weeks, IFCA lost two wonderful gentlemen who were part of the IFCA family. Please take a moment to remember them with us and keep their families in your prayers.
Larry Wenthold, who spent his 43-year career at River Valley Cooperative, passed away on July 10 at the young age of 69. Larry was an active member of the IFCA, committed to his community, the industry, to the cooperative and its employees and especially to his family and faith. Larry was active in the IFCA, especially when it came to involvement on stewardship issues. When you needed a volunteer, Larry was always there. He was a true gentleman with a warm personality and we are fortunate that he blessed our industry with his talents and his passion for agriculture. Larry's obituary is here.
Dr. Ed Varsa from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale also passed away recently at the age of 81. Ed taught soil fertility for many years, was beloved by his students and was a true friend of IFCA and many academic colleagues throughout the state and US. We thank Ed for his passionate commitment to education and agriculture, and for being part of the industry even after he retired from teaching. Dr. Varsa's obituary is here.
