The USDOT has extended the deadlines to renew expired or expiring CDLs, endorsements and medical cards until September 30, 2020 to allow flexibility to the states, especially those states continuing to deal with COVID outbreaks.  

 

In Illinois, all the driver service facilities are open for business, and most doctor's offices are accepting appointments for CDL medicals.  We encourage our members who have expired CDL licenses, endorsements or medicals to work to get them renewed as soon as practical and not to wait until the last minute when the extensions expire.  The IL Secretary of State appreciates everyone's patience as you go to the driver services offices, where precautions include requiring face coverings, social distancing and only taking a few people at a time into the offices.  The Secretary of State will also continue to process farm service restricted CDLs for the upcoming fall ammonia season.  If you have questions about DOT issues, process please contact jeanp@ifca.com or (309) 826-3236.
