With ammonia side-dress wrapping up, now is a good time to make sure you have made all the necessary upgrades to your ammonia facility as well as your nurse tanks and or application equipment.  The final deadline to have all ammonia upgrades in place is December 31, 2020.  To assist our members in understanding the changes in the current ammonia rules, IFCA prepared a compliance guide to assist you in understanding what upgrades are needed.  If you have not reached out to an ammonia contractor, don’t hold off as they are booking up fast.  With approximately 28,000 nurse tanks in Illinois, withdrawal valves may also be in limited supply, so make sure you reach out to ammonia equipment supplier. 

 

Farmers who own their own ammonia storage tanks and nurse tanks are also required to comply with this regulation, so if you are supplying product to farmer-owned ammonia facilities, be sure they also understand the compliance deadline is coming soon.  If you have any questions about the ammonia rules, contact John Rebholz at 815-674-3798.
