Update on FEMA Face Coverings
We know that you have been anxious to receive your face coverings from FEMA. IFCA submitted an order to FEMA for all of our retail and distribution members back on April 21. But nothing has shown up yet. We were able to reach someone at the Dept of Homeland Security this week and they were extremely apologetic for the delay. They also could not tell us when the face coverings might arrive. Our recommendation is this: Don't wait on the FEMA face coverings as your only option for face coverings. You can use any kind of cloth for a face covering (bandanas, scarves, cut-up t-shirts, etc.) and it is also much easier now to order non-medical masks or other face covering over the Internet as supplies are replenishing.
Remember that the CDC guidance for essential industries clearly spells out the situations when face coverings are recommended, and also how to manage your business if one of your employees may have come into contact with a person that tests positive for COVID. You DO NOT have to shut down your facility if that occurs. Click here for the one-page CDC guidance for essential workers.
