Update on COVID Regulatory Issues
IFCA continues to update our "Frequently Asked Questions" document and we also post all the pertinent regulatory relief announcements under our COVID Resource Section under "In the News" on the IFCA website. The list grows longer each week, and if you have any questions about the various relief provisions please do not hesitate to contact our staff.
The one area where relief has not been forthcoming yet is for persons needing new CDLs or endorsements. With the Secretary of State offices closed during this important "stay in place" timeframe, testing is just not an option. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires testing in these areas to assure safe transportation on public roadways. The IL Sec of State does, however, continue to process applications for Restricted Farm Service CDLs for anyone who has a regular Class B license. See the application and instructions for mailing in the form. They will get to these applications as quickly as possible.
