FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse Up and Running
FMCSA Drug & Alcohol encountered a rough start due to a system overload and technical issues when it was initially launched in early January, although seems to be running smoother now. The clearinghouse is a secure online database that gives employers real time information about CDL holder’s drug and alcohol program violations. As an employer of CDL drivers, make sure you have registered in the clearinghouse and have a process in place for conducting pre-employment queries prior to using a CDL driver. Queries are required prior to employment and annually thereafter. CDL drivers will need to register in order to provide an electronic consent in order for an employer to conduct a full query of the driver’s Clearinghouse record.
