In the last IFCA Items of Interest we mentioned that any new trailer manufactured on or after June 22, 2017 will require lighting and reflective marking.  The lighting and markings must meet the American Society of Agricultural Biological Engineers Standard (ASABE) S279.14.  This new requirement will require additional upkeep of the lighting systems as well as challenges of adapting the new lighting to existing towing vehicles. The next ASABE lighting and marking committee meeting is scheduled for the end of July in Detroit, MI.  IFCA plans to attend this meeting in order to address our concerns with members of the ASABE lighting and marking committee on adding lights to ammonia trailers.  IFCA welcomes your input on this issue, please share any thoughts with John Rebholz at (309) 827-2774 or email John at john@ifca.com.
