On September 1, 2009 there will be a rally at the Crown Plaza Hotel located at 3000 South Dirksen Parkway in Springfield, Illinois beginnig at 11:30 a.m. The rally will begin at 11:45 and lunch will be provided.
Numerous groups are involved in this effort including the IFCA, Illinois Farm Bureau, Illinois Manufacturers Association, Illinois Coal Association, Retail Merchants, Midwest Truckers, National Federation of Independent Business and many more. Attached is a flyer with details about the rally including all the organizations involved.
IFCA has been asked to speak at the rally regarding the impact that the cap & trade legislation will have on the fertilizer industry.
IFCA Members, please try to attend to show support for your state association and express your concerns about this legislation (HR 2454) which equates to a huge energy tax and threatens to drive all nitrogen manufacturing offshore, not to mention significantly drive up all costs for businesses and consumers.
More information on the impact of cap & trade to agriculture and to the economy in general is posted at www.ifca.com. Please check it out and remember, this legislation has already passed the US House of Representatives and the US Senate will take it up in September.
If you plan to attend the rally, please email Jean Payne at jeanp@ifca.com to give us an idea of how many IFCA members we can count on.
Spread the word about the rally to your customers, fellow business colleagues, neighbors, everyone! We are expecting a large crowd and a strong presence from agriculture is very important.
