Before You Go to Bed, Send a Note to USEPA to Support Atrazine

Today, October 4, is the last day to submit comments to USEPA on the re-registration of atrazine.  Comments are due by midnight tonight.

Before you leave the office, or before you say your bedtime prayers, please take just a few minutes to send in a comment supporting this herbicide and the vital role it has played in crop production in Illinois.  It's simple and easy to send in your comments to USEPA on-line, just follow these steps:

1.  Click here to access the USEPA comment screen.  Once you are on the site, click the blue "Comment Now" button to access the docket entitled "Draft Ecological Risk Assessments:  Atrazine, Simazine and Propazine Registration Review."

2.  Type your comments in the box.  Of key importance is to relate how you have safely used this product for many years, in a manner that does not pose a risk to water quality, health or the environment.  The benefits of atrazine include reduced tillage to control weeds, efficient and effective weed control and the ability to improve crop yields with a product that has been studied more than any other herbicide, and proven safe by both government and independent science review teams.

3.  When you are done with your comments click the "Continue" button, review your comments and check the box that says "I understand the statement above" then press "Submit Comments."

Please take the time to register your input as a citizen and as a member of the Illinois agricultural industry.  Across Illinois, the agribusiness and farming community is rallying to submit comments to USEPA to show our support for sound science in this USEPA review process.   If you need additional information to form your comments, click here to view a sample letter that IFCA prepared for our members as a guide.  You can also edit this letter, and cut and paste it into the on-line comment screen.

Thank you for taking a few minutes of your day to exercise your right as a citizen to provide comments to our federal government on policies that impact our food production system.
