USEPA Issues Advisory on Dicamba Misuse

USEPA has issued an advisory explaining the legal ramifications of the use of dicamba herbicides on dicamba tolerant crops.  USEPA has not registered any dicamba herbicides for use on new dicamba tolerant crops, but incidents of use in surrounding states prompted this advisory notice.  Click here to see the notice.  It is a violation of federal and state law to use a product off-label.  In Missouri there have been over 100 complaints of dicamba drift and damage to approximately 40,000 acres of soybeans.  In Illinois, we know of only one dicamba related complaint registered with the Illinois Dept of Ag and IDA is investigating.  Click here to see the stewardship guideline that IFCA prepared on this issue in early spring 2016; we shared this with all of our members and our fellow ag organizations.  We encourage you to continue to share this with your farmer customers to raise awareness of the importance of following the rules and regulations pertaining to pesticide use.  If you have any questions, please contact Jean Payne.
