Upcoming Ammonia Safety Classes & Equipment Workshops
The IFCA and IL Dept of Ag will offer five anhydrous ammonia safety training classes this September for those who need to be certified as a competent attendant. The dates and locations are:
September 19 in Bloomington @ Asmark Agricenter
September 20 in Rock Falls @ The Days Inn
September 21 in Galesburg @ The Best Western
September 22 in Springfield @ Poes Catering on the Hill
September 23 in Charleston @ The Unique Suites
IFCA will send out registration information before the end of July so watch your mail. This year you will also be able to register on-line to attend. The classes run from 8:30 to Noon with lunch included for a cost of $65 per person. Please review your employee training records and make sure that everyone who works at your ammonia operation, including work on any tool bars or equipment, is certified as a competent attendant. The training is good for three years and both retail and on-farm ammonia storage locations are subject to this requirement.
In addition to the Safety Schools, the IDA is also offering three workshops in October to review the new ammonia regulations and equipment installation and maintenance. Representatives from the equipment industry will participate in the workshops and IFCA will also be there to provide guidance on the PSM regulation. These workshops are free of charge, but mark your calendars now. These workshops run from 8:30 to noon and the dates and locations are:
October 4 - Effingham at the KC Hall
October 5 - Bloomington at the Asmark Agricenter
October 6 - Mendota at the Civic Center
If you have any questions about the new ammonia rules, please see our IFCA compliance guide and complete copy of the new ammonia rules which are available here. The IFCA Newsletter and NH3 Compliance Guides are in the mail to our IFCA members and we are here to help. No question should go unasked when it comes to ammonia compliance and safety.
