IFCA Legislative Update

IFCA members are well represented in Springfield and in Washington D.C.  KJ Johnson provides an update on bills that we are watching and you can access that area of our website at www.ifca.com then click on "Legislation" to view House of Senate Bills of Interest.

This year we are supporting legislation to change the pesticide applicator and operator licenses to a 3 year license instead of an annual license.  That way once you pass your exam, you will be issued a license that is good until your next testing date.  This will save our industry and IDA a lot of time and effort processing paperwork.  This bill has passed out of the Ag committee.  IDA has been doing their best to process licenses in a timely manner, but you should NEVER sell a restricted use pesticide to someone without recording their current pesticide license number.  Even if they have taken the exam but are waiting for their license, as a seller you cannot sell the product without recording their license number--the fines are substantial.  For any concerns with licensing issues, please call IFCA.

We have also been working to stop a bill that would ban the sale of USEPA and IDA approved neonictonoid pesticides in Illinois and legislators have listened to our concerns.  Contact KJ for any questions about state or federal legislative issues.
