Economic impact study of fertilizer industry
A first-of-its-kind economic study of the fertilizer industry shows it contributed more than $160 billion dollars to the U.S. economy in 2014.
Kathy Mathers with the Fertilizer Institute says the analysis involved manufacturers, retailers and service suppliers.
“If we look at data by state and district, every state in the nation has some economic impact. Obviously more in some places than others (like) the Corn Belt states; Texas has a big impact.”
The third party study also found that two years ago the fertilizer industry directly employed nearly 85,000 people in the U.S.
