This Week in DC
Voters will get a glimpse of what's at stake in this fall's elections as President Obama makes his final State of the Union address and House Republicans force a vote to kill his rule re-defining the jurisdiction of the Clean Water Act.
Obama plans to use his speech Tuesday night to lay out a vision for beyond his presidency and while he's expected to push for approval of the Trans-Pacific Partisanship he'll also pressure Republicans on gun control.
To make his point on gun control, a seat in the House gallery will be left vacant to represent the victims of gun violence. The White House guests will include a 12-year-old Delaware boy who was inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama's “Let's Move!” initiative to start his own non-profit for providing healthful food to homeless and low-income individuals in his community.
Other guests will include a Syrian refugee, a solar-panel installer, and advocates for criminal justice and drug policy reform.
