Fertilizer Dealer Registration

In 2012, IFCA worked with the IL Department of Agriculture to make significant changes to the Illinois Fertilizer Act.  One of those changes was to create NREC, and another major change is the way in which fertilizer dealers register to conduct business in Illinois.  In the past, each custom blend had to be registered with IDA; now, you pay an annual $100 fee to IDA to obtain a Fertilizer Dealer License which allows you to custom blend or sell bulk or bagged fertilizer without having to register each product or blend.  With regard to fertilizer product registration, any entity who name appears on the label of the fertilizer must register the product with IDA for a $20 fee.  This ensures that when IDA inspects fertilizer for analysis and quality, the person whose name is on the label is the entity who guarantees the analysis and takes responsibility for the quality of that particular product.  If you have any questions about fertilizer regulations please contact us at IFCA.
