We were very sorry to learn of the passing of Lester Pitchford, 95, of Richview, Illinois.  Lester was a true pioneer in the Illinois fertilizer and chemical business.  He started Pitchford Elevator in Richview, IL in 1965 and was involved in the operation of the business until his recent illness.  Lester was also integral in establishing a successful banking enterprise and was a founding director of Richview State Bank overseeing its growth and service throughout the Southern Illinois marketplace.  We honor Lester as a true advocate for independent, family owned businesses and as an integral part of the success of the agribusiness industry in Southern Illinois.  Lester will be missed and always fondly remembered for his leadership and wisdom.  We send heartfelt condolences to his wife Lorraine, his two daughters, six grandchildren and the employees of Pitchford Elevator.  More information on Lester's productive life of service and dedication to agriculture and his local community can be viewed here along with detail on services which will be held on Saturday, September 12 in Centralia.
