This Week in Springfield

This week in Springfield will be busy with committee hearings.  A back load of bills are waiting for committee hearings and floor debate.  Also, private meetings will be going on all week on Gov. Rauner's "Turnaround Agenda".  There are five different committees on the "Turnarond Agenda", Tax Hike working group, Economic Growth working group, Taxpayer Protection working, Transforming Government working group, and the Capitol Plan working group.  
 
-The Tax Hike group will be working on how to bring in new revenue into the state.
 
-The Economic Growth group is designed to tackle issues of workers' compensation insurance, the governor's local "right to work zones" proposal, tort reform and raising the minimum wage.
 
-The Taxpayers Protection group will be discussing the governor's proposed property tax freeze.
 
- The Transforming Government group will be working on current state employees and teachers pension reform.  It will also be trying to come up with ideas on how to reform legislative term limits, state workers ethics and banning Medicaid hospitals, nursing home and public employee union from making contributions to the executive branch.  
 
-The Capitol Plan group will be assigned to work on details a new mulit-million dollar infrastructure plan.
