It has been extremely busy this spring and a tremendous amount of fertilizer is being applied, the vast majority of it very safely.  But we've had several ammonia incidents in the past two weeks that have been reported to the National Response Center and to IEMA and the local authorities.  These incidents involve custom application as well as farmer applied ammonia.  At least one incident resulted in injuries and evacuation.  Over the weekend, I-70 was shut down in Missouri due to a nurse tank rollover and this received a lot of attention.  These incidents bring intense scrutiny to our industry and we stress again to please take extra caution when transporting and applying ammonia, and encourage your farmer customers to take the free on-line IFCA training program for farmers, it is available on the IFCA website at www.ifca.com.
