It will be busy in Springfield this week with committee hearings and floor work.  Legislators are trying to move bills from committee to the floor.  This week all substantive bills in both the Senate and House must be passed out of both chambers by Friday. 

 

Now, with only 42 calendar days and 30 legislative days remaining in the spring legislative session, focus turns to the approaching Fiscal Year “16 budget”.  More questions linger than are answered in the capitol these days regarding the $6 billion shortfall for the coming year.  If no agreement is made by May 31^st, the General Assembly might be in Springfield most of the summer.
