The Illinois Dept of Ag Bureau of Weights & Measures has finalized rules making changes to the truck scale regulations.  IFCA was instrumental in working with IDA on these changes, which resolves the issue of Certificates of Conformance, allows for an application process for new scales, establishes a process to request a variance from the regulations, and enables the use of shallow pit vehicle scales.  We believe the rules provide improved clarity for the industry as well as for IDA inspectors, and will take a lot of the gray areas of the picture.  IFCA thanks the IDA and our friends at the Grain & Feed Association and the IL Aggregate Producers Association for the collaboration and work over a period of 3 years to improve the truck scale regulations.  Several IFCA members also served on a committee to help provide input into the rulemaking process.  The new rules are available on the IFCA website or by clicking here.  If you have questions, please contact Jean Payne.
