Get Ready for Spring: Reminders

There are two more ammonia safety schools left this spring:  one tomorrow in Quincy and one on Friday in Springfield.  Go to www.ifca.com  to see the locations; it is too late to pre-register but you can still register at the door, just get there by 8:30 a.m.

If you are hiring part time people to transport ammonia nurse tanks, they can obtain a restricted farm service CDL to transport ammonia tanks without having to get a full CDL or hazmat endorsement.  Visit www.ifca.com where there is a form you can send in to the IL Secretary of State to apply for a restricted CDL.  The person applying must work for an ag retail company and must already have a valid class B driver's license in order to get a restricted CDL.

Be sure you have your pesticide applicator and operators licenses up to date prior to spring.  You should have gotten a letter from the Illinois Dept of Ag months ago to renew your licenses, but sometimes things can slip through the cracks.  If you need assistance in renewing your license, contact IDA at 217.785.2427.

Have you signed up for the Responsible Ag Program yet?  All fertilizer facilities that store bulk fertilizers are encouraged to register for this new national stewardship program.  Go to www.responsibleag.org for  more information on the program and to register to demonstrate your stewardship and commitment to safety.

As always, IFCA is here to assist you with any question you may have so please call our office at 309.827.2774 anytime.
