This Week in Springfield

The Illinois General Assembly is back in Springfield this week for the last three days of fall veto session.  As mentioned above, minimum wage will be front and center this week in both chambers.  Senate President Cullerton has stated that he has the votes in the Senate but would like the House to take the bill up first so he doesn't put his members in bad positions with constituents.

A committee hearing to watch this week is a joint hearing with the Senate Transportation and the Senate Agriculture.  The hearing will be a subject matter only on Illinois' Aging Water Infrastructure.  The committee hearing is to bring light on how the seven locks and dams on the Mississippi and Illinois are falling part.  The rivers are very important to agriculture and many other industries in this state.  For more details on the hearing click here.
