Public Comments for Atrazine Revised Registration Due Tomorrow

In 2020, the U.S. EPA published its final atrazine registration review decision. In an unprecedented move, EPA decided to reopen the final registration. New revisions to the registration have been proposed and are currently open for public comment.

Listed within EPA’s proposed revisions is the reduction of the aquatic ecosystem CE-LOC from 15 parts per billion (ppb) to 3.4 ppb, a decision based on invalid studies and questionable conclusions. This change contradicts previous scientific evidence and will have widespread impacts on the use and effectiveness for atrazine. In addition, the EPA proposed an unworkable list of mitigation measures that Illinois ag retailers and producers would be required to implement when using atrazine.

The deadline for comments is tomorrow, October 7th. IFCA strongly encourages members to submit comments on the new proposed revisions. Please click here to submit your own comments to the EPA.
